Design and Visual Communication Pathway

Aims

In Design and Visual Communications, students learn to apply design thinking towards a product or architectural opportunity. Through a series of steps, students will investigate, explore, develop and model their prototype against aesthetic and functional properties. Using graphic design, students will present their work in an exhibition.

Practical skills include drawing, models, computer aided drawing and digital mediums. Students will see their world change around them and become creators of objects and spaces.

Competencies

This subject aims to nurture courageous students who can problem solve using innovative thinking. Students will investigate and be influenced by human societal, environmental, historical and technological factors.

Pathways this course contributes towards

Architecture, Business, Creative Industries, Engineering, Industrial and Graphic Design.

Other essential information

No prerequisites.

I chose to take DVC as I am interested in pursuing a career in Architecture or Engineering. DVC allows me to express my creativity and explore the process of both spatial and product design while clearly communicating my ideas in an orderly format. I think DVC is important as it gives me the ability to seek a career in Architecture, allowing me to practically apply my skills and see my designs come to life.

Future Career:
Architect/Civil Engineer
